FAQs
What materials do you accept?
We accept aluminum cans and clear plastic bottles.
What are examples of clear plastic bottles?
The bottles should be type 1 PET plastic and must have previously contained food or beverage contents. Examples include: water, soda, and juice bottles.
Do you recycle non-bottle plastic containers?
We only accept bottles. PET plastic food containers like salad or strawberry boxes are made of the same material as bottles but are manufactured using a different process which changes their properties. Unfortunately, recycling of these items isn't widespread, so we don't accept them yet.
Should I leave labels and caps on my bottles?
Yes, leave the labels and caps on your bottles.
Should I leave pop tabs on my cans?
Yes, leave the pop tabs on your cans.
Can I crush items?
Yes, feel free to crush your items to save space.
Should I clean items before I drop them off?
While it's not necessary to thoroughly clean items, please remove any remaining liquid.
What should I do if I’m not sure an item is accepted?
Unaccepted items end up in the landfill and hurt our ability to reliably recycle with our partners. When in doubt, it's best to leave it out. You can always send us a picture of the item and we’ll let you know if we can recycle it.
Can I drop my whole bag in the drawer?
Items need to be loose so that our computer vision systems can ‘see’ each item individually. Please pour your recyclables into the drawer and take your containers with you.
Can I share my code with someone else?
We recommend each person signs up with their own code because it ties the materials you drop off to your email address. This is how we let you know what you earn, give you feedback on what you drop off, and share the impact your recycling efforts are having. If you share your code with someone else you are responsible for what they drop off.
I am an individual, not a fundraising group. Can I recycle with you?
Absolutely, we welcome individuals to recycle with us.
